BAMESA was created in Barcelona in 1962 by a small group of local entrepreneurs under the name of Barcelonesa de Metales.
Just after the creation of the first products for metal fixtures, the first cut-to-length and slitting lines are installed. By the end of the 1960′s, production volumes increase significantly, and in 1970, Hierros de Levante, located in Sagunto, Valencia, is created. In 1984, the plant in Pancorbo, Burgos, is inaugurated. BAMESA’s growth is consolidated in 1995 with the opening of Dos Hermanas in Seville to service the market in Andalusia and Extremadura which, together with the rest of the Steel Service Centers, is able to cover the entire domestic market.
In 1988, the internationalization of BAMESA began with the opening in Portugal of the Company Sociedade Luso-Espanhola de Metais, which over the years became the leading Service Center of the country.
Since 2000, BAMESA has consolidated its international vocation with the opening in Bursa (Turkey) of a Steel Service Center Bamesa Çelik Servis Sanayi ve Ticaret, which has been followed by another Steel Service Center in Manisa Province, as well as various logistics warehouses in these two areas.
In Europe, takes place the acquisition of Bamesa France (formerly Cofrafer), located in Bonneuil-sur-Marne (Paris). And in Romania the Bamesa Otel Steel Service Center in Topoloveni (Pitesti) is opened, and a logistics warehouse in the Craiova area, expanding the area of influence of BAMESA in Eastern Europe.
In this period of growth, BAMESA is established in Tangier (Morocco) with SSC Tanger, a new Steel Service Center, which allows to cover the needs of its clients located throughout the Mediterranean arc.
